The Highfield School is committed to providing a healthy and caring environment which improves the quality of life for all students and staff. Our wellbeing strategy aims to support the school’s core co-operative values of self-help and solidarity in the recognition that resilience is a vital life skill.
By considering student and staff wellbeing in all aspects of school life, a positive environment can be created that is compatible with promoting student engagement, performance and achievement so that everyone is given the opportunity to flourish and achieve their full potential.

At Highfield, we are working towards the goal of embedding discussion around emotional health and wellbeing into our curriculum. Key discussion around topics including resilience skills, health and wellbeing and sex and relationships are already a part of our PSHE curriculum but we are aiming to extend this further by using opportunities in all subjects to discuss positive wellbeing.
Supporting your child with their emotional health and wellbeing is something which can be difficult for parents and carers to know how to do. As a result of this, we are going to be running some parent classes where we will discuss how to converse with your child around such issues and also how to spot signs of when things aren't going right for them.
Support and Help:
Please contact the school using the dedicated email (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you feel you need extra support for your child in terms of their emotional health and wellbeing. We may be able to support you and your child directly in school or find a service who can offer the tailored help needed.
Equality and Equity
At Highfield, every person has the right to be themselves. We actively promote the values of respect and equality and work to ensure that inclusivity and diversity is embedded and celebrated across the whole school community. With this in mind, we have recently produced the following Transgender Guidance Protocol, so that we are able to consistently support, inform, protect and enable young people questioning their gender identity to achieve their full potential whilst at Highfield.
