Welcome

The Highfield School
The Highfield School is an ambitious school where all are encouraged to achieve their full potential. This is based on a culture of high expectation, challenge and the support needed, so that by working hard together, we can all achieve our goals. We have an excellent reputation both academically and pastorally.
What an amazing turnout! A fantastic way for the Performing Arts to end the year with so many students coming along to audition for our next school production of Goldilocks! We were blown away by the enthusiasm, energy and talent on display, and we can't wait to get started. If you're joining us in Year 7 this September, there will be information about how to get involved when you join us in September - we'd love to welcome you to the cast! If you weren't able to make the auditions, don't worry! Come along to Drama Studio at lunchtime on Monday or Tuesday where we will be holding catch up sessions.
Artwork of the week
In the last two weeks the stairwell in the Unwin block has been transformed into a vibrant, inspiring space thanks to the creativity and talent of our Year 12 Art students. From the initial concepts through to the final brushstrokes, the students designed and painted these large-scale murals to celebrate creativity, learning and diversity. The colourful artwork reflects a wide range of interests and aspirations, featuring themes of the many subjects studied at Highfield. More than just brightening the walls, the murals create a welcoming environment that encourages students to think creatively, explore their passions and take pride in their school community. A huge congratulations to our talented Year 12 artists, Alisa, Ilaria, Iona, Megan, Sophia, Kareena and Jessica for leaving a lasting legacy that will be enjoyed by students, staff and visitors for years to come. Their imagination, collaboration and dedication have turned an everyday space into something truly special. The Art Department
What a week for Performing Arts at Highfield! Over the past seven days, our students have taken to the stage in not one, not two, but three productions - Summer Showcase, Nunsense, and Robin Hood. Their commitment, enthusiasm, and teamwork have been outstanding throughout. Whether performing on stage, playing in the band, working backstage, performing a musical number, or supporting their fellow cast members, every student has played a part in making this such a memorable week. We couldn't be prouder of everything they have achieved. But there's no time to rest... Auditions for our Christmas pantomime, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, will take place this Friday from 3.00 - 4.00pm in the hall. Whether you're an experienced performer or looking to take to the stage for the first time, we'd love to see you there! If you can't make Friday's audition, please speak to a member of the Performing Arts team and we'll arrange an alternative time.
SET Debating Competition On Tuesday 7th July, our Debate Society made their way to Robert Barclay Academy for the first ever SET Debating Competition. We took a Junior team of Year 7 students Fintan, Henry and Ollie, with wonderful reservist Clem ready to support, and an Intermediate team of Year 10's Zak, Bella and Elise, with their supportive Briony to help them. The students were an absolute credit to Highfield, with several other schools' staff commenting on their talent throughout the day. They were all sensational in the debates, with our Inter team going on to win the competition! I am extremely proud of them all for their bravery in public speaking, effort in preparation and skill of debate. Well done debaters!

Last week Year 7 calypso cricket team participated at Stevenage CC. Our first opponents were Thomas Alleynes school who we comfortable beat, we then went on to beat KTS and Nobel to reach the semi-finals were we played KTS B team, this was another comfortable victory setting up a final against Thomas Alleynes who we had previously beaten in the group stages of the competition. Unfortunately we narrowly lost the final but were awarded the silver medals, well done to everyone who participated and a special mention to Bradley for his batting performances and Zara for her bowling performances.
