Geography

We aim to promote curiosity about the world we live in and the people who live in it. We strive to build cultural capital by helping students understand the processes that shape their lives. Ultimately, we equip students with the knowledge, skills, and understanding needed to face the challenges of living in today's world on a local, national, and global scale.
This ensures that when students leave Highfield, they view the world through two lenses: one of awe and wonder, and another of responsible action.

Geography Learning Journey

KS3

All students study geography for 3 hours each two-week cycle. The department has developed a curriculum which studies issues that are relevant to student’s lives and interests; for example, plate tectonics, migration, tropical rainforests, India and Thailand. The curriculum is set with guidance from the National Curriculum and prepares students for the topics they will study at GCSE and A Level.
